The Executive Director of District Improvement is a key driver of school improvement and innovation, ensuring the attention and responsiveness to New York State Accountability metrics and implementing best practices in developing and monitoring school based systems and structures in collaboration with building administrators. This includes building districtwide capacity, center distributive leadership, promoting sustainable systems of practice, and stabilizing key instructional and organizational transitions. Additionally, this position focuses on collaborating with administrators to increase their instructional leadership capacity, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, and ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and policies. The Executive Director of District Improvement focuses on improving student outcomes by coordinating support services, leveraging community partnership, and managing school-based resources; overseeing schools identified as CSI- Receivership under the New York State School Accountability.
Key Responsibilities:
Specifically, the Executive Director of District Improvement will support a team of administrators to perform the following duties and all other responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent and his/her designee:
This is a management confidential position in the Schenectady City School District.
Candidates must have a Master’s degree in Education, Educational Leadership, Curriculum & Instruction, or related field and a New York State School District Administrator (SDA), or School District Leader (SDL) certificate by the time of appointment with 5-8 years of management experience. Successful administrative experience in the areas of improving student outcomes and leading instructional transformation and school turnaround. Candidates with effective prior administrative experience in an urban school district with a large racially and economically diverse population are preferred. Strong background in equity-centered leadership, change management, and instructional coherence.
