NYGEAR UP Afterschool Program

 

Position: NYGEAR UP Parent Liaison (3)

 

10/1/2024-6/6/2024

 

Site locations and hours:

 

Schenectady High School:

Monday through Friday

2 hours per day (3:30 PM - 5:30 PM)

 

 

For all positions:

• AED/CPR Certification will be required for all positions.
• All programs and positions contingent upon enrollment.

 

The NYGEAR UP program's goal is to provide the current 9th grade cohort with education and training to prepare students for post secondary education. Activities will include, tutoring, mentoring, counseling, and career exploration programs as well as college tours.

 

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with NYGU teachers to support tutoring and instructional activities.
• Maintain ongoing communication with families to share information about opportunities, programs, and professional development.
• Help families, educators, and community members identify and access community resources and services that align with the goals of the NYGU grant.
• Provide assistance to students with the STARI curriculum as needed.
• Monitor, collect, and report on student engagement in daily sessions.
• Foster a positive and inclusive school culture by creating and implementing programs and activities that enhance school spirit, pride, and community involvement.
• Support the recruitment of targeted students and promote student participation in NYGU program activities
• Adhere to the grant model and objectives with guidance from Program Coordinators.
• Engage in professional development opportunities, including STARI, trauma-informed support, college readiness, peer-mediated instruction, and culturally responsive teaching.
• Attend and supervise students on college tours during school breaks, weekends, or evenings.
• Other duties as assigned.
