Job Description

All Positions: All jobs posted below are part of the Schenectady Summer Theatre Camp. The camp will run on weekdays from July 8th-August 2nd from 2:30-5:30pm, as part of the Extended Day Program. Staff will be expected to report to Door 8 at Schenectady High School at 2:00pm and stay until 6:00pm. Staff will teach acting, singing, dancing, and stagecraft skills. The camp will culminate in a performance of the short musical Swamped, by John Jacobson & John Higgins. Staff should expect to work for extended hours the day of the performance, August 2nd.

Program Director (Drama/Stagecraft Director) :

The Site Leader for the SEP Theatre Camp is responsible for coordinating all aspects of the camp, including creating the master schedule and designing and directing the culminating musical, Swamped. NYS Teaching Certification in Theatre K-12 and experience teaching theatre at the elementary level required. The Site Leader should expect to:

-Work with the Music and Dance Directors to create the camp schedule.

-Work with SEP administration to enroll students in the camp.

-Communicate and enforce expectations of both staff and students.

-Work with the Transportation and Food Service Departments to ensure students’ transportation and dietary needs are met.

-Assign staff jobs and responsibilities at camp.

-Communicate with families regarding all aspects of camp.

-Deal with any student discipline issues.

-Design and direct the culminating musical, Swamped.

-Source and gather all camp materials.

-Coordinate the technical aspects of the production, including lighting and sound.

-Create Stagecraft and Drama activities.

-Plan and coordinate the cast party following the performance.

-Ensure student and staff safety.

 

 

Job Qualifications

NYS Teaching Certification in Theatre K-12 and experience teaching theatre at the elementary level required
